By the restless nights that keep serenity at bay
By the passing days that seem sorely gray
By each toss of the dice, the night draws darker still
Our paths made to diverge on fate’s cruel anvil
By each turn of the tide, I seek my pole star
Distant and shining, like the fey singing from afar

That bearer of sunrise and stardust, ever beyond my reach
Has my heart ensnared and my tongue robbed of speech
She, formed of Eden’s light and blessed with Elven tune
With hair in shades that would turn winters to June
In each of her artful acts, I seek my pole star
Distant and shining, like the fey singing from afar

In her image was forged moonlight, her smile was the flame
Behind her alluring eyes are storms the Heavens couldn’t tame
And when fair Luna caught glimpse of her rival in this mortal land
She wept in lonesome longing of the beauty she could no longer command
For in the glow of my muse, I caught sight of my pole star
Distant and shining, like the fey singing from afar

And I, I can only witness the magic her tunes did create
For her songs, I’ve sought to rewrite destiny’s taxing slate.
If today or tomorrow I’ve loaned in Cupid’s weary name,
Such is my desire, and I’ll forever fan this fervid flame.
