“To whatever’s next”, we promised,
As we looked upon that field of blood.
Hand in hand together we stood,
While the world before us burned.

Waiting to enter the After together,
While this world would be nothing but dust.
“To whatever’s next”, we promised,
As our souls refused to part with us.

We could feel our bodies failing,
As the fire now reached our shores,
Yet our eyes refused to stray away,
From the gaze we had taken so long to trust.

Our souls shone together even as our heartbeats slowed,
We could see the reaper now standing before our lifeless corpses,
To pass on to the light of might all we had to do was let go, he told,
But we held on letting him know that our souls were forever joined.

A vow of forever, for our souls to be together.
An Oath to keep always, as we journey beyond our days.
Our souls were placed together before we were born,
And they will never be apart is what we had long ago sworn.

“To whatever’s next”, we had once promised,
Until this world was nothing but dust.
“To whatever’s next”, we had once vowed,
And our souls still dance together in both rain and fire.
